![]() Now it doesn't happen everywhere, or in every school, but I'm pretty sure that you know what I mean. Some people, especially parents, would undoubtedly have problems coming to terms that the behavior seen in this movie happens. In fact, I don't know if this movie is for everyone, because of the issues it presents. Now I am not by any means saying that this movie is a guiding light which everyone should see. This movie takes the comedy out of the teenage life that has been prevalent in movies over the past 8 years or so such as American Pie and other similar styled teen comedies and turns it to a sort of opposite view. We are given a true side to high school, where there are fake people everywhere, underage and illegal activity is happening, and its all going on without parents there to see. It does truly present many aspects of youth behavior nowadays that most people don't really look at. I say this is a social commentary, not perfectly executed, but still fairly well done nonetheless. Don't try and act like something you aren't because there are consequences. They are fake, in every sense of the word, and that is the whole point of the movie. What we are really seeing is truly how superficial that these kids are. However, it is being mistaken by some reviewers that these actors are doing a bad job. I said that that "fake" was the first thing that came to mind, because we are immediately presented with this group of rich white kids acting like they are black. ![]() ![]() It was either hearing about the various nude scenes of Anne Hathaway or a bunch of white kids trying to act black, and doing it poorly. Watching this movie, the first thing that came to mind was, "Wow, these kids sure are fake." In many initial reviews, this movie was derided as being a joke. ![]()

![]() ![]() Attracting new donors requires involvement, marketing and word of mouth, but the retention of current donors is often an uphill battle. With the emergence of current donor management software, 70% of the organisations are satisfied with the CRM technology.ĭonor attrition is one of the biggest challenges for nonprofits today. It has been observed that charity and nonprofit organisations that used CRM technology noted an increase in the donor contribution growth by 20 percent and more. With the advancement in data driven technology, it has become easier to manage constituents and also succeed as a nonprofit organisation without spending significant amount of money hiring staff / resources. CRM software for nonprofits, which is also called donor management software, is exclusively designed to help charities and nonprofits run operations smoothly. Charities and nonprofits usually work on a predetermined front-end mission, for instance, community service, advocacy, activism, religious beliefs, so on and so forth.īut in order to run the organisation, charities depend on donations or charitable contributions for financial support, which is why the operational mission of charities as well as nonprofits, usually revolves around the management of donors. Therefore, building long term relationship with your constituents is not only essential but necessary for achievement of your goals. Nonprofits face unique challenges in the United Kingdom, such as, tight budgets and stringent regulatory constraints. They want donors to keep donating volunteers to lend a helping hand and contribute their time in numerous activities organised by the nonprofits and you need media outlets to run encouraging and positive stories about your charity / nonprofit. Each constituent has a different role to play and their goals vary from other constituents depending on the relationship with the non profit organisation, but together they are vital to keep the organisation running smoothly. Therefore, the acronym, CRM in the nonprofit sector, means Constituent Relationship Management.Ĭonstituents generally include the following:Ĭonstituents are diverse in terms of the support they offer. In 1899, Elgar said the enigma should be left "unguessed." But 119 years later, the guessing game continues. "And in those words 'we don't know' lies the chief fascination of the Enigma Variations, and which is why I personally take more interest in studying the music itself rather than the riddle - which is just what Elgar suggested one should do." He has fought pushback from Wikipedia editors reluctant to publish it - though recently, his theory was included in Wikipedia's entry on Elgar's Enigma Variations.īritish scholar Rushton says there's evidence to suggest the enigma may not be a hidden tune at all, but rather a more abstract concept. He has tirelessly emailed skeptical music scholars who have been dismissive of his theory. ![]() He wanted someone to break the cipher in order to validate the correct answer." ![]() "He created a cipher, and ciphers are meant to be broken. "I believe he wanted someone to decrypt his cipher, to prove what the correct answer was," Padgett says. Padgett is convinced Elgar did the same thing with the Enigma Variations. Code breakers are still trying to figure it out. The year before he began writing the Enigma Variations, he wrote a coded letter to a friend that's come to be called the Dorabella Cipher. "Do you compose music by working out an elaborate form of symbolism, cryptography, or do you basically write music as a musician?"īut Elgar wasn't just a musician. "My problem with all this is to do with the way the music was composed in the first place," Rushton says. More than that, he doubts Padgett's premise that Elgar reverse-engineered an entire symphonic work to fit a backwards-composite melody while sprinkling dozens of symbols and clues in the music. He doubts a Roman Catholic composer such as Elgar would have embraced a Protestant anthem such as Luther's "A Mighty Fortress" (though Padgett has his own theory to explain that). ![]() Padgett recorded an example and uploaded it to YouTube, and presented the theory to Julian Rushton, an Elgar expert and professor emeritus of music at the University of Leeds in England. Padgett says when you play the hymn with the music, it fits perfectly – you just have to piece together three different versions, written by Luther, Bach and Mendelssohn, and then play it backwards, over Elgar's music. In more than 100 posts on his blog, Padgett has laid out an elaborate theory involving cryptography, Christian symbols and dozens of other hidden clues he believes Elgar embedded in the music, too uncanny to be coincidences. That's when he stumbled upon a church hymn he believes is the answer: Martin Luther's " A Mighty Fortress Is Our God." "You can try and shoehorn it in, but it doesn't work," Padgett says.Ī devout Christian, Padgett says he prayed to God for help solving the puzzle. On his commute to work, Padgett used to listen to a CD of the Enigma Variations and hum tunes – like "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" – to see if they'd fit. I thought this would be an interesting puzzle to try and unravel." At that point I decided, you know, this is one of the great mysteries of classical music. "Kind of like a murder mystery or something. "He made it sound so captivating," Padgett recalls. But he's also a violinist who's played in professional orchestras, which is how he stumbled upon the Enigma Variations - from a conductor who recounted the mystery of the work. One man attending the Elgar Society conference has his own Enigma theory that he will be preaching to his fellow Elgar enthusiasts.īob Padgett of Plano, Texas, is not an academic he used to work in insurance. Inherent vice can be used as a justification for refusing to insure an item, as its intrinsically self-destructive nature may make it unacceptable risk to a carrier or insurer. One legal definition of inherent vice is "an exclusion found in most property insurance policies eliminating coverage for loss caused by a quality in property that causes it to damage or destroy itself." The term inherent vice is used in law as well as in library and archival science. papermaking, book binding, etc.) faster and easier the longevity of the items they produce is not their primary concern. However, frequently the objective of manufacturers is to make a process (i.e. The presence of deteriorating agents is a problem which can be tempered by selecting archival quality materials, such as acid free paper. For example, leather and metal are two materials which are frequently used in combination with each other, but react to each other over time to cause corrosion on the metal. This includes not just an understanding of the intrinsic qualities of the materials themselves, but also the way that they affect and are affected by the other materials that they come into contact with. Slowing this tendency of objects to self-destruct requires an understanding of how materials interact. In the case of film, an example of inherent vice is the innate chemical instability of cellulose acetate film, which can result in the degradation known as "vinegar syndrome" due to the distinctive vinegar odor it produces. In the world of philately, the adhesive on the back of stamps is both an inherent vice-any exposure to moisture will compromise their ability to be preserved-as well as the purpose for which the stamps were made. ![]() As the acid continues to break down the cellulose fibers, the paper disintegrates. ![]() ![]() (Granted, save transfer is a bit more complicated via emulator, I think.)ĪC3 is also a much better jumping on point for newcomers to the series. Also, you're able to carry your save file from AC3 into Silent Line, so you wouldn't have to start from scratch for both games, if you play AC3 first. You mentioned you don't care for story, but there will be some carry-over stuff that might make more sense if you've played AC3 first. I haven't emulated it, personally, so I'm not the best person to ask about emulating it - I've only played it on original hardware. I'm aware you can scale the resolutions up or rebind keys in an emulator, but the HUD/interface and quality of the models/assets is still much better on PS2. but I definitely can see the graphics downgrade, personally.ĮDIT: If you are emulating the game then I would still go with the PS2 original. Some people argue that the low resolution isn't as noticeable on such a small screen. I also find the PS2 controls to be much better (albeit the controls are still very, very dated compared to modern games). I think the PS2 original runs at 480p, and the PSP at 272p. While the PSP release was technically impressive for it's time, it has a much lower resolution and generally lower graphics quality than the PS2 version. My vote is definitely play the PS2 version if you have it, instead of PSP. Silent Line is also a pseudo-sequel or stand alone expansion to AC3, so it will make more sense if you do AC3 first to understand the story and context. My recollection is that AC3 does a better job of introducing new players to the setting and is notably less complicated (since SL adds in a ton of new parts and options to customize your AC, which expands the number or choices). We considered removing the Westcott Trim Air because it's more difficult to get a precise cut with a stack of sheets, but we kept it in the mix because its blade is so long-lasting, it's a great option for the casual user who doesn't want to deal with any kind of maintenance, or replacing of blades. Because of its heft, it's not a good option for the home unless you have a dedicated studio or office area where it can stay out all the time. ![]() Our top choice, the Swingline 15-Inch Classic Cut is a great combination of durability, portability and precision, but if you're looking for an option that will see heavy use in a business or organization, we added the X-Acto Commercial. ![]() The Swingline offers an ergonomic handle and an etched grid that functions more like the more expensive metal and wood models.
